Subject: TODAY: Rally in West Palm Beach at Sen. Nelson's office!
|
Dear MoveOn member,
Last night, Speaker Boehner couldn't convince House Republicans to pass his reckless debt-ceiling proposal. So the GOP's outrageous game of chicken with our economic future continues. WIth just four days left until America defaults, we need to make sure that the final deal reached doesn't come close to resembling Speaker Boehner's proposal.
We have limited time to get our message out and now the attention is moving to the Senate—that's why we're rallying tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. in front of Sen. Nelson's office. We'll tell Sen. Nelson: We're counting on you to stand up against cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.
Can you join thousands of other Americans standing against any measure that would destroy the American Dream?
Thanks for all you do.

Dear MoveOn member,
Republicans are still holding out against a balanced debt plan that would raise revenues by making sure that corporations and the wealthy pay their share.1 Instead, they're threatening to force America to default in order to get big cuts to Social Security and Medicare—all without ending the tax breaks that put us in debt in the first place.2
The latest plan by House Speaker Boehner would set the stage for an even bigger disaster next year.3 And we're running out of time: the House could vote on Boehner's terrible plan as early as today. If it passes, then it'll head to the Senate.
We need Sen. Bill Nelson to stand strong and refuse any deal that doesn't make the rich pay their share, or cuts Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security benefits. But with things coming down to the wire, Sen. Nelson will be under incredible pressure to give in to GOP demands.
That's why we're gathering TOMORROW at 3:30 p.m. at Sen. Nelson's office—to make sure he gets the message: "We're counting on you!" Can you make it?
We're building a real movement to defend the American Dream. More than 30,000 people have signed up for these actions this week. This is the most important step: sending a direct message to the Senate to stand strong and demand a debt limit increase bill that protects Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, and insists that corporations and the wealthy pay their fair share through revenue increases.
Tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. we're taking that pressure directly to Congress—can you make it?
Thanks for all you do.
