Host a MoveOn Council Meeting

Thanks for hosting a MoveOn Council meeting!

Council meetings are local gatherings where Council members plan actions, discuss strategy, and socialize. (Please note: Council meetings are for members of the Council and invited guests, and so you are responsible to notify and invite people to come. These events do not get centralized recruitment of local MoveOn members.)

You'll make your own agenda for this meeting, and should prepare your materials in advance.

Host Ground Rules

We have tried to provide all the information you will need on our website (more information is available after you post your event). We will work hard to review all questions that are emailed to us and add answers to the FAQ (frequently asked questions) pages, so please check those pages to see if your question has been answered before you email us.

By creating an event, you are agreeing to serve as the host of the event. Your responsibilities as host include:

  • Arranging that all the necessary materials are brought to the event (you can ask other participants for help).
  • Contacting and communicating with the people who participate in your event. We will encourage attendees not to attend an event where the host has not confirmed their participation.

Important Legal Note: Political Action is a political organization. Events organized in conjunction with Political Action are considered partisan under the law. As a result, non-partisan not-for-profit organizations such as schools and libraries should not use staff time or resources to organize events with Political Action. This could be seen as an in-kind contribution under the law, which could put the organization's tax status in jeopardy.

I agree to the hosting ground rules for this event. *
