Did you know that over 10 years Bank of America paid out $11 million in campaign contributions, $10 million to lobbyists, in 2011 alone, spent $3,230,000 on lobbyists, got bailed out by taxpayers for $20 billion, $25 billion to buy Merrill Lynch, and had $118 billion in loan guarantees, while recei...(more)ving $1 trillion from the federal reserve?
Bank of Americas profits are enormous, in 2010 alone were $4.4 billion, yet got a tax refund of $1.9 billion.
Thats a lot of zeros in their favor, folks, thats why we want to know why Bank of America and their CEOs actually pay less federal and state taxes than most middle-class workers.
On Tax Day, well be gathering across the country to let the big banks and corporations that offshore their finances and pay politicians to enact legislation that allows them to get of scot-free, know that the 99% have their number.
At a time when prices are up and everything is downsized, why should the 1% be taxed at a lower rate than the rest of us? We pay our taxes, why dont they?
Join us at the Inverness Post office, a symbol of the 99% where those of the 99% will be sending in their taxes, and march with us a few blocks to the Bank of America, symbol of the 1%, to let bankers and their legislators know that siding with the 1% wont win them any popularity contests in this hot election year!
